Dwarves
Dwarves are the master manipulators of stone and iron. Their forges burn with the intense heat needed to smelt and refine ores to produce the finest craftsmanship in Illyriad.
Their cities are legendarily secure; it is indeed true that it is often impossible to see a join between the carefully laid stone blocks that make up their city walls. Dwarves are a strong choice for those who want to rely on their defensive game, although they are also the master creators of the massive siege engines for demolishing an opponent's city. Dwarven Diplomatic UnitsDeep Dweller There are rumored to be Dwarven hermits who live only in the deepest caverns of the realm, experimenting with the noxious toxins one finds in the bowels of the Earth. These Dwarves are occasionally used by their lords to eliminate particularly troublesome enemy generals.
Executioner Certain Dwarves are relegated to the execution of the Dwarven Lord's enemies. These Executioners follow out their commands without fear.
Footpad Dwarven society, like all others, has youths who go astray. These Footpads are often recruited to make their natural proclivity towards crime productive for their lords.
Halfling Halflings are a race of Dwarven cousins who are small, sneaky, and incredibly proficient at depriving their enemies of their belongings.
Keeper of Secrets Certain groups of Dwarven greybeards - after many years of training - attain the exalted rank of “Keeper of Secrets”. These skilled spies are often found counseling their Lords on the next strategic move.
Observer Dwarven goods are coveted across the globe. As such, one occasionally sees groups of Dwarven merchants traveling the byways selling such goods. If they are collecting information at the same time, so much the better - as far as the Dwarven lords are concerned...
Runemaster Runemasters are the epitome of the Dwarven diplomatic corps. They are skilled greybeards, adept at the game of princes.
Sapper Dwarves are experts at undermining structures. As such they inherently know the weaknesses of the buildings their lord wants them to demolish.
Sentry All Dwarven lands have Sentries posted who inform them of the comings and goings around them.
Underminer After many years, some Dwarven Sappers are selected to become part of the elite group of Underminers. Rare is a building that survives their attention long.
Watcher There exists in Dwarven Lands a group of elite Sentries who are known as the Watchers. They have infinite patience and can scry out enemy intentions very adeptly.
Dwarven Military UnitsAxman The day a Dwarf gets his handaxe is the day he considers himself an adult. Dwarven Axmen are legendary heavy infantry.
Ballista In this advanced torsion-powered Siege Weapon, a vast bundle of bowstrings are drawn back with winches, storing the energy to fire the projectiles. The Ballista throws heavy bolts over the walls, destroying buildings on the other side.
Battery-tower The Battery Tower is designed to be wheeled close to the defender's walls, protecting the troops inside. Once flush against the wall, the attackers inside the tower can smash the walls with pickaxes, bore holes and tear at the blocks supporting the wall, weakening it considerably.
Crossbowman Relying on brilliant Dwarven engineering, crossbows in the hands of experienced Dwarven Crossbowmen can punch straight through plate armor.
Halbardier The last thing a charging mounted Orc wants to see is a unit of Dwarven Halbardiers blocking their way. Oftentimes it is the last thing they see…
Packsman Dwarven Packsmen ride their hardy mountain mules - who seem to be just as tough as they are. They prefer to dismount when they reach the battlefield, acting as dragoons.
Runerider Runeriders are comprised of wild Dwarves from the mountain reaches who ride warhorses of astonishing size and ferocity.
Slinger Dwarven Slingers hurl perfectly smithed iron sling bullets, killing enemies as they approach their armies.
Stalwart For every score of axmen that dream of becoming a Stalwart, maybe one might gain the honor. There is no more fearsome military unit on two feet.
Yeoman Most Dwarven cities maintain a set of Yeoman to keep the city safe from harm.
Dwarven Support UnitsCaravan Caravans are the building block of your trade empire. Caravans carry goods from place to place as you direct.
Messenger Messengers are the fastest mounted units in the land, carrying messages containing new orders to your units scattered about the land. They ride their horses almost to destruction, abandoning them en route and switching to fresher ones.
