Seasons
Seasons in Illyriad mirror the real-world seasons. As each server runs for a full 12 months, a full season cycle is completed during the course of a game server. These effects are continuously in force across the entire Kingdom.
Each season has special bonuses that are applied globally to all locations on the server. Autumn, for example, is the period where the harvest is brought in and buildings are shored-up to withstand nature’s blast of cold - giving bonuses to resource production in these areas. Summer and winter, as another example, tend to bake or freeze the ground respectively, making it more difficult for your citizens to dig clay out of the clay pits. Lunar CycleThe relationship between magic and the phase of the moon is a strong one - with your arcane strength at its peak during the full moon.Like seasons, the Lunar Phase also has an impact on the Kingdom of Illyriad and timing is also based on the real world. The flip side of the coin is that your empirically-minded academics are generally uneasy with the cycle of the supernatural, and so the output of your science-based research suffers conversely. The moon’s effect on Magic applies not only to Mana production but also to the range and power of spells cast during the phase. |
