Orcs
Orcs see themselves as the rightful ruling race in Illyriad, but will deal with the other races quite happily – so long as it is to their advantage to do so.
Orc cities are usually the least well defended in the Kingdom, but woe betide any player who confuses this with being 'defenceless'! Fierce, strong and brave in numbers, Orcs excel in waging an offensive playstyle by using their Goblin, Kobold and Troll minions to wreak havoc across the land. Orc Diplomatic UnitsArsonist Every once in a long while an Orc comes along who has a natural flair for burning structures down. Wise Orcish Lords cultivate these individuals and recruit them to be their Arsonists to use against unsuspecting enemies.
Chieftain Chieftains always come from the upper echelons of the Orcish tribe. These scarred warriors have the necessary clout - and inspire sufficient terror in the tribe members - to get things done on the diplomatic front.
Goblin Cutpurse Orcs often use their pint size relatives, the Goblins to sneak into enemy towns and relieve them of their coveted belongings.
Goblin Saboteur Orcs relish in destruction. Destruction in an unobtrusive fashion, however, is often relegated to their sneakier small cousins, the Goblins.
Goblin Spy Orcs like to use their diminutive cousins, Goblins, to sneak around and tell them what an enemy city looks like. That rustling you hear late at night in a dark alleyway isn't always a stray cat...
Hunter From early childhood an Orc hunts - or an Orc starves... Therefore, there are large numbers of young Orcs who are proficient at sneaking around.
Iqadron Acolyte Only the most deadly and committed Orcs dare apply to the priesthood of Iqadron, the God of Murder. These Orcs live their entire lives perfecting ways to kill others at the behest of the masters of their tribe.
Listener In The Dark Listeners In The Dark are the Orcish master spies. Rarely seen in daylight, they are rumored to use dark magic to make themselves nearly invisible when collecting information for their Dread Lords.
Plunderer Thievery isn't particularly frowned on in Orcish society - it is almost expected of youngsters to survive. However, only a few Orcs pursue this career (or live long enough to pursue it), and these skilled Plunderers are often dispatched to deprive enemies of their resources.
Poisoner Orcs prefer to kill in a path of least resistance, as it tends to preserve one's hide. There are therefore a goodly number of Orcs specialized in poisoning enemies.
Stalker If you are not a particularly large Orc - but have natural cunning - your best career move is to become a Stalker. They are responsible for finding enemy armies to kill. And eat.
Orc Military UnitsClan Guardsman After collecting your first twenty scalps, you are elegible to challenge a Clan Guardsman for his place. This practice quickly creates an incredibly elite corps of Orcish spearmen the likes of which are not seen in any other races.
Clanguard Clanguards practice for months throwing their accurate javelins at targets. Then they move on to throwing them at other races…
Death Dealer Death Dealers have reached a level of javelin mastery that enables them to use their specially designed javelin throwers, traditionally made out of the femur of an Elf, to hurl their poison tipped darts hundreds of feet with deadly accuracy.
Death Pack A particular breed of enormously fierce horses exists deep in Orcish territory. Only the elite of the Orcish army are honored by being allowed to ride these fearsome creatures, forming the dreaded Death Packs.
Fang Fangs are your quintessential Orcish warrior - armed with a scimitar and ready for blood.
Fist If you see a horde of black armored soldiers approaching with a white fist on their shields, run... It's the smartest thing to do.
Kobold Cohort An undefended Orc city is known as "dinner". Young Orcs keep this from happening by banding together to defend their cities in Kobold Cohorts. No basic spearmen are better.
Tortoise The Tortoise is a roof-protected ram, swung on cables by the troops inside, smashing itself with great force against the defensive walls and weakening them with every blow.
Trebuchet The trebuchet uses a gravity-powered counterweighted arm to propel a stone or other projectile towards a target. The sling and the arm swing up to the vertical position, where, assisted by a hook, one end of the sling releases propelling the projectile towards the target with great force.
Wolfrider Orcs have long tamed beasts to act as mounts in battle. Fear two things about these troops: The scimitars of the Orcish rider and the jaws of the mount.
Orc Support UnitsCaravan Caravans are the building block of your trade empire. Caravans carry goods from place to place as you direct.
Messenger Messengers are the fastest mounted units in the land, carrying messages containing new orders to your units scattered about the land. They ride their horses almost to destruction, abandoning them en route and switching to fresher ones.
