I'm better than you...

Player Ranking is the measure of how well you are doing versus other players or alliances on your server.

There are 9 ranking categories for players in Illyriad to compare yourself against:

Total Population, Trade Points, Technology Points, Diplomatic Points, Offense Points, Defense Points, Quest Points, Magic Points & Overall Score.

Your overall score (your base player ranking) is derived from the other 8 categories of points awarded.

However, different point types have different weightings when calculating your overall score. A player’s military ability, for example, is more highly weighted than a player’s trading ability.

Risk and Reward

This is not a comment on the relative merits of different game strategies, simply a reflection on the relative risk/reward balance of different activities and their impact on the game score.

Not only do players gain ranking points, but alliances do as well - based on the individual performance of all players in that alliance combined.
