Of course Wood, Clay, Iron & Stone are required materials for new buildings & building upgrades, but Illyriad offers much more than that.

Food is not used in any construction or research process, but is consumed instead consumed in ever increasing amounts by your city’s growing populace as well as by Livestock, Horse rearing and Brewing processes.

Gold is earned in your city by collecting taxes from your citizens, and is mainly used to pay the wages of your military units.

Mana represents the total arcane knowledge and magical power of the mages, alchemists, wizards and warlocks in your City. Mana is used to cast a wide variety of powerful spells – once you have researched them, of course.

Research represents the total scientific and technological output of your city. Academics, researchers and students congregate in your library to examine and discuss new ideas that would benefit you and your citizens. You choose which technologies and skills to direct your research efforts towards.

Advanced Resources

Other resources that can be produced include Horses, Livestock, Beer and Books - all of which serve vital purposes in your city, supplying cavalry units, tanners, taverns and researchers, respectively.

Military production from expert craftsman to equip your armies includes Swords, Spears, Bows, Saddles, Siege Blocks, Leather Armour, Chainmail & Plate Steel armour.

All of these resources (except research) can be traded with or bought from other players.
